OUR MISSION

Community of Destiny Inc. (COD) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit outreach organization committed to providing multiple program initiatives and services to disadvantaged individuals in our community. The goal of our organization is to promote healthy lifestyle changes and economic stability to members of the community through our culinary arts training, life skills training, re-entry program, nutritional wellness, employment opportunity services.

COD addresses the high unemployment rate of adult men and women as well as youth offenders, many of whom deal with addiction, abuse, and homelessness. We work with many food service industry partners to reach our goals. COD understands that most of our target population comes from backgrounds with multiple barriers to employment so building bridges and opening doors is a natural extension of our mission.

OUR STORY

In 2011, Community of Destiny (COD), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, developed a culinary arts training program in the local community for people who have never held legitimate jobs, people who have lost jobs due to struggles with incarceration, addiction, alcoholism, and HIV, victims of domestic violence, homeless people, and at-risk youth.

COD gives clients a second chance in life by teaching them life skills in the culinary arts. Graduates learn to create safe, nutritious cuisines. Students prepare for and earn certifications by TAPS and by Serve Safe.

Community of Destiny, Inc. (COD) was birthed from the heart of our compassionate Head Chef, Grace Peart, who is on a mission to become the premier provider of nutrition education as well as career and workforce development in local communities for at-risk youth, young adults, and their families.

COD instills these virtues into its students, which gives them the courage to transcend their difficult circumstances. Moreover, COD emphasizes other soft skills essential for workplace success: a strong work ethic, honesty, sobriety, effective communication, appropriate attire, and a courteous demeanor.

  • OUR STUDENTS

COD students have remarkable graduation rates and success at landing jobs with local restaurants, catering companies, and other hospitality institutions.
